Vinted Users Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
